MCC emergency plan & kit letter to Lena

 Dear Lena,

This is a report on what I have done, with help of my husband, for the State initiated Emergency awareness campaign.

There are two parts: the first is for spreading the information on the Emergency Plan in Korean language to the Korean community groups. The second is about spreading the information on the use of Emergency Kit.

First, I explain about the first part. I have examined what information is available on the Emergency Plan in Korean. I find that some other states created a Korean language version of the key information in English, but found that they all contain some state specific information, so cannot be used for SA. So, I decided to translate some key information published by the goverment of SA. The simplest and most effective set may be the four brochures that you gave me to distribute. I searched for the links for the four brochures.

1] Home Emergency Plan (2018_08_28 05_44_02 UTC).pdf

2] sa_ses_storm_brochure.pdf

3] SES Heatwave Brochure.pdf

4] sa_ses_flood_brochure.pdf

I translated each of them,  but put them together into a single pdf file, for the sake of simplicity in distribution. This file of the translation of the four brochures are sent to the Korean community groups as an attachment with a cover letter explaning the SA goverment awareness campaign for Emergency Plan.

The letter with the attachment was sent to the group Kakao Talk (the most used Korean SNS) of three groups: 1] the Senior Group of Korean Presbyterian Church of Adelaide, 2] Korean Association of Adelaide, and 3) the Korean Seniors' Association.

Ideally, it is better to hold a group meeting and have someone make a presentation in Korean, and have a QA session. But it is difficult to a find someone willing to study the topic and make presentation, and also to make people to gather for a topic such as this.

As for the second part, the awereness campaign for the Emergency Kit, I am planning to make use of a church senior group event to distribute some Emergency Kit as prize for the event. The prize Emergency Kit will contain a minimal set for emergency tools. And of course, the occasion will be used to explain the purpose and use of the Emergency Kit.

I hope this way of doing satisfy the minimum requirment of the campaign.

I think I am getting too old for this sort of work.

Regards

Chungsoon

Korean:

(Emergency Kit)>.

Dear Korean reidents,

- I am Mrs Chungsoon Pak who is a past president of the Korean Association of South Australia.

- For several years, the South Australian government has been trying to inform the residents of how to prepare for various disasters that are likely to occur in the state. The government is also providing disaster preparedness training by translating information prepared by the government into several ethnic languages for residents whose first language is not English.

- The information the government wants to convey to residents is largely divided into two parts: (1) <Emergency Plan> and (2) <Contents of Emergency Kit>.

- (1) Contingency planning is thinking ahead and preparing for emergencies caused by the most common disasters (storms, heat waves, floods). Attachments are 4 brochures prepared by the South Australian government translated into Chinese and made into one convenient pdf file. I hope you will consider how to prepare for a disaster.

- (2) Emergency Kit (Emergency Kit) is a list of items that every household, as well as every organization, should have in preparation for an emergency. Each family will have different levels of what they already have, but I hope you read what you need, and think about how much you currently have at home.

2] Attachment (The Koprean translation of four brochure.)
