Dear Sejin,
Thank you for meeting us at Calvary North Adelaide last week, it was great to talk with you and learn about you.
It gives me great pleasure to offer you a role as volunteer Story Recorder in the Life Stories Program.
Hoping you accept this role: the next steps for you to come on board are:
1.National Police Check
Calvary requires a Police Check for all staff and volunteers. This check is free for Calvary volunteers.
· If you have a Police Check that has been issued in the past 6 months, please email a scan or photo to me.
· If you do not have a recent Police Check, please complete the attached National Police Clearance Application form as soon as possible. Please sign, attach a photocopy of your 100 points of ID that have been certified by a Justice of the Peace or SA Police and email to me. I will complete the payment details and forward to SA Police for you. Please ensure you email a scan or photo through to me when you receive the check, as we are not notified of the outcome.
2. Working With Children Check
Calvary requires a Working with Children Check for all volunteers. This check is free for Calvary volunteers.
· If you have a current Working with Children check, please email a scan or photo through to me and I will add Calvary to your existing check. Your existing check will be valid until its expiry date.
· If you don’t have a current Working with Children check, please let me know and I will initiate one on your behalf. You will then receive an email from the Department of Human Services with instructions on how to complete your application online.
3. Life Stories Program Story Recorder training:
You are required to attend all 4 full days of the training. A formal invite with all the details will follow.
* Thursday 19 January 2022, 9:00 – 4:00 approx.
* Wednesday 25 January 2022, 9:00 – 4:00 approx.
* Thursday 2 February 2022, 9:00 – 4:00 approx.
* Thursday 9 February 2022, 9:00 – 4:00 approx.
4. Calvary Orientation session
A Calvary-wide Orientation session (face-to-face) needs to be attended. These are held once per month during the morning and I will confirm with you the dates for the new year when they have been scheduled in.
5.Mandatory COVID-19 vaccine
Calvary has a mandatory COVID-19 Vaccine policy. All Calvary staff (including volunteers) must be fully vaccinated to work and/or volunteer at Calvary sites. Please send your proof of vaccination (the vaccination certificate, statement from immunisation record or the COVID-19 digital certificate) as soon as possible to me, I will pass it on to the relevant department here.
6. E-Learning
Together with the in-person Calvary-wide Orientation session, there are a couple of online modules that will need to be completed. It sounds like a lot, but trust me, it is not too bad. Some of the topics are hand-hygiene and infection control and tend to be very short. I will email your online training log-in details (in 2023!) along with instructions for which modules need to be completed prior to commencing your role.
I understand there are a few steps involved with coming on board but I just wanted to get the most critical aspects started (started, not completely done and dusted or finished!), especially with the Christmas break just around the corner. My last working day for this year is Thursday 22 December and I’ll start the new year on Thursday 5th January. Anything we can do to get the ball rolling before your scheduled first day of training would be great.
Please know I very much appreciate the time and effort involved!
****What to do as soon as possible******
Please let me know whether you accept or decline the offer and that you are okay with all the steps as mentioned above as soon as possible, but before Monday 19 December Close of Business at the latest.
On behalf of the entire team at Calvary Health Care South Australia, I look forward to welcoming you as part of our team and trust your volunteering with Calvary will be both fulfilling and enjoyable!
With kind regards,
Lian Van Veen
Life Stories Program Coordinator
